Good Manors

Well it turned out to be a very busy weekend at The Aye Life HQ. What was initially a London trip, became a Blackpool trip. We travelled down to Preston on the Caledonian Sleeper to initially experience the train but also to spend some time in sunny Blackpool. Our days were spent travelling, sight-seeing and hotel-ing round Lancashire.

With November the 4th and 5th being the last weekend of the Blackpool Illuminations, we were excited to take in the bright Winter vibes and enjoy a romantic weekend together. Well, romantic in amongst the blog posts, social media chitter chatter and pho-blog-raphy on the move. After spending our first night in Preston, we were looking forward to moving into Blackpool for our second night. This gave us a little more freedom.

A Friendly Invite

We have stayed at the Village Hotel in Edinburgh a few times now and love the concept behind the brand. It is in essence, a resort and can be used for a variety of different purposes. We have been to tribute nights, spa breaks and even a fashion inspired brunch with Gok Wan. In this case, we were exploring Blackpool so we were delighted to be invited along to spend a night at the hotel, even if it was just a fleeting visit.

The Village in Blackpool is in the most beautiful location, in suburban Blackpool. It is based on East Park Drive, only a 10 minute taxi ride to the promenade with Blackpool Zoo only 5 minutes away. In my opinion, our weekend in Blackpool was the perfect mix of busy centre and relaxed suburbia.

Set on a beautiful estate, there is a lovely drive up to the main hotel beside a golf course and a cute little pond. The building is very pretty and stands on its own with steps up to the entrance (and a ramp which is great for accessibility and for dragging very heavy suitcases along). There is a clock tower out of the front of the hotel which looked gorgeous protruding through the colourful Autumn leaves.

Cosy, Calm, Casual

There was definitely a noticeable change in the atmosphere inside the hotel. Blackpool tourism madness drifted away and what was left behind was much more chilled out. We checked in to the hotel and made our way to the room.

The décor within our room was modern, yet classic and most importantly, very comfortable. Along with a snug king-size bed, there was also a large desk with chair and a comfortable armchair which Scott made good use of with his 85-year-old-like back.

Along with all of the comforts of the room, there was also the bare necessities like a tray packed with coffees and teas and an ironing board and iron.

The bathroom was very modern and clean with a combo bath-shower and the usual fine smelling ESPA products. Washing my hands in the spicy bergamot fragranced hand soap was divine.

Pamper Perfection

With a fabulous spa boasting use of the hotels ESPA products, comes the option to spend time enjoying a relaxing stay-cation or weekend away. The Village in Blackpool also has a hot tub along with an indoor and outdoor pool.

We never got a chance to use the hotels health club seeing as we were so busy during our trip. However, we highly recommend taking time to enjoy these facilities if you are planning staying at the hotel. There is nothing better than being cosy in a hot tub after coming in from the wintery cold.

Breakfast time

Buca Di Peppo is the Italian restaurant within the hotel. It has very classy décor with stone statues and lots of black and white old-fashioned looking photos.

Along with a varied, tasty and well-priced dinner menu, the restaurant also plays host to breakfast. Breakfast is buffet-style and contains an array of hot and cold options. So if you want to be health conscious like I wasn’t then you can enjoy cereals, fruits and fresh juices. For the fry-up kind of people, the sausages are well worth a look in.

Everything You Need

Considering the price range at the Village Hotel in Blackpool, you get an awful lot for your money. Along with a comfortable, clean and modern room, there are also a wide range of facilities. This hotel also has a golf club and there are lots of really good offers available for a mix of different facilities, along with a right good feeding.

We would like to thank The Village for hosting us on such a last minute basis. We have so much love for the brand and cannot wait for our next long weekend. Our schedule always seem to be so busy when we are staying at a Village and we never get enough time to just stay in and use the resort. Here’s to next time!
